I'll be spending X-mas in Brasil too-not sure where. I spent last X-mas in a small beach town called Ubatuba on the Paulista coast. It didn't feel like X-mas, because it was hot and humid. And way too many booashoodas- these small sand flies that leave an inflamed red wheel centered by a black blood spot. I was a sick looking man in my speedos- my legs looked infectious. It was neat to see the kids in the resort dress up like elves and hand out gifts :)

Dear Squirrelhunter,

Whould the propor name be Borrachudos, instead of Booashoodas?

Dear Squirrelhunter,

Wouldn't the proper name be Borrachudos, instead of Booashoodas?

Dear ckan:

The best place to spend the next xmas in south Brazil is, without any doubt, the cities of Gramado and Canela. About 120 Km from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, these cities are a little cities, but are a little block of Europe in Brazil. Germanish architecture and all the streets intensively iluminated are very, very beautiful. There are cultural activities and excellent hotels too. In the hotels, there are many nightclubs (firtst category). Gramado and Canela are distantly 7 Km and are located about 900m in altitude. In local winter (june - august) the temperature are cold (10킺C to -5킺C) but in summer, are relatively hot (25킺C - 32킺C).

One of the most confortable hotels in this cities (Canela) is the Laje de Pedra Hotel.
